My child is easier than my dog.
Any mom that has an infant and a dog will tell you it can be tough work. Especially from 5-7pm when everyone needs you. During these times I wish I still was single in my studio apartment.
We have a dog named Bruno. He will be two years old in March. He is awesome and a huge pain in the ass. He is a ten pound Morkie with a larger than life personality.
Since the minute we got Bruno, he was always being rushed to the vet, starting with kennel cough when he was three pound puppy.
In the past two years, he has been hospitalized three separate times for eating shit he shouldn’t have. His favorites include mushrooms and cigarettes. He’s a real badass. Anyone who has a pet knows how expensive this is (yes we have pet insurance). We have had training lessons, which clearly worked really well…
Since bringing a baby into the picture, Bruno has not slowed down. In fact, last week I had to rush him to the vet with baby in tow. Silly me thought it was a good idea to take them both to the park on a beautiful day. When he threw up a cigarette butt in my car, the vet made me come in for a visit. He really needs to go on Chantix.
He has been pretty good with Will since we brought him home from the hospital. Before we came home, we brought the blanket and hat they put him in at the hospital and we let Bruno sleep with it and get to know his smells. Side note - those blankets are surprisingly rough considering they go on a newborn’s body. He recently puked on that blanket. If you couldn’t tell, the pup has a sensitive stomach.
Aside from taking Will’s stuff and destroying it, his favorite pleasure is taking his socks off of Will’s feet. If you scroll my Instagram feed, you will see plenty of evidence of this. He licks his head and takes his socks. What a nice guy.
It could be worse though; he could hate Will. I am dreading the day when Will starts to care about his stuff and screams while Bruno rips his belongings to shreds.
What I am most concerned about is when Will starts throwing solid foods. Any advice on this is welcomed!
Bruno has learned to love little kids. He sees one and knows he will be eating really well. We are in trouble.
Bruno is ALWAYS in trouble. Good thing is a cute and we love him a lot. After all, nothing is better than baby and dog cuddles!
