My Peanut is Allergic to Peanuts! And some other stuff too...
Will is that kid. The kid with the allergies.
As I’ve mentioned before, Will has eczema. Typically when a baby has eczema it is a sign that there are other allergies and/or asthma to come. The day finally came when he had to get tested for food allergies. Well actually the day came twice. The first time I took him, I had given him Zyrtec a few days before for an allergy attack and we couldn't do the tests. Fast forward a week and we did them.
It turns out Will is allergic to peanuts, dairy and eggs! My poor baby. We had to get an Epipen and I have to keep Children’s Benadryl in my bag at all times.
I’ve been really careful about what I’m feeding him so luckily he hasn’t had a bad reaction yet. I knew when the pediatrician said to give him peanut butter at 6 months that I shouldn’t do it. Mommy instinct is real.
We are hoping that Will grows out of these allergies and it is very possible that he will! He is only 8 months old and now I can control everything he eats, but once he is school age it will be harder.
We go back in a month to test for all tree nuts (he was too small to be tested for anything more). Then we go back again in August when he is 1 to retest and see if he is still allergic.
Until then the formula that we are using (Neocate) has been the only one that has worked for Will and we will stick to that and be careful always!
Peanuts, eggs and dairy don’t have shit on us!
P.S He still doesn't have teeth!
