He's on the move: Head First into the Fireplace

Well this seems like a logical place to go to

Will has started to become very mobile. Army crawling all over the place.  Of course this means his eczema is coming out on his forearms. Ugh.

His favorite location to crawl to is the fireplace. He is determined to smash his head, destined for stitches. I bought the clear padded tape but it didn’t stick to the stone. I just got the KidCo fireplace protecter and it seems to be working better. I have a feeling it won’t last too long. Of course I measured it wrong just to make sure it looks hideous.

When I first decorated our house I wasn’t pregnant (it took us a while, that’s for a later post) and I didn’t really think about my furniture murdering our future child. My taste is modern and unsafe. I moved our death trap coffee table from our family room down to the basement and got an acrylic one. It has no edges but Will continues to bang his head on it because it confuses him. He doesn’t know why he can’t put his body parts through it since it is clear. Good thing he’s cute.

Having a baby that is on the go is very different. I can no longer just plop him down and go about my business. I can’t take my eyes off him! He is small and it doesn’t take him very long to get to where he wants to go. I put him down on the rug and he’s on the hardwood floor with Bruno’s toys in his mouth in a matter of seconds. They fight over toys, it’s not normal.

Part of me doesn’t want to baby proof my house so much since the world outside my house isn’t baby proofed. It is all very ugly. But the other part of me wants to keep us from going to the hospital.

Maybe I’ll get skinny from chasing him around all day? Probably not.
